With the speed of home PCs increasing like there is no tomorrow this Socket F drop-in replacement of a doubledoublecore to a doublequadcore, plus the option to add another videocard like the GF260/295 again doubling/quadrupling the GPU score performance wise it seems the sky is the limit.

Also interesting to note is that the 8 cores @2.4 GHz roughly perform @one third of the speed of the videocard @ 1.4 Ghz with 216 dedicated cores.

BIOS edit: 2 years now

After blogging for almost 2 years now a very personal blob of mine. After all, this is a blog.... ? It's been 2 years since I started a project for modifying the BIOS of the eveyday workhorse called the KFN5DSLI. It's very much a boutique build and a very rare motherboard of which Asus quite possibly has a loss selling; yeah its an AMD Opteron board. Well, now due to the lack of BIOS updates and OCL option in that BIOS I started hacking the board and ended up creating OCL scripts for all motherboards based on the MCP55Pro chipset. Yeah, so it got outta hand :) Recently AMD released new Opteron revisions but ASUS never even hinted towards releasing any BIOS updates for the KFN motherboards, so I decided to go on the lone trail once again and insert special code into an existing BIOS to make it possible to run the newer chips into the motherboards.

And that I've known.... It takes a lot of time and a good setting to do this, and today I'm once again at it. As a maximum I spend 2 to 3 hours on this during weekdays.... for more then 3 months now on an intensified way.

Until now my score has been good; what I started ended in a satifying result, but this mod, like previous mods in 2007, haven't been done before but would be groundbreaking if succesfull.

Working on that then.

Broken Market

All right, the usually optimistic Brian "only price pays" Shannon posted in his blog yesterday evening a very bearish picture of the market. As he's an (intra)day trader he usually tends to be positive because there always is some sort of bull lurking out there waiting to be grabbed by the horns.

This time around he almost pulls out every trick in the book, vwap/fibo/head'n shoulders, and the picture forward not only seems bleak but, according to Brian, it is very much broken.

What this means is that we're at the next free fall dropoff zone; buy gold/euros. Sell dollars. Oil seems to stay in the same spot; unless you're paying it with dollars.... For several reasons gold is going to double in price; Max Keiser says the dollar is going to be cut in half. Hence the doubling up of gold that everybody seems to be shouting about.
