The end of MD5

People that don't follow my behind-the-scenes LQ blog at the right hand side of this one might wonder what this black PCB is in the middle of this picture does on this blog. Well, besides making the dualsocket Opteron motherboard look quite small which is an optical trick because that GF260c216 is, in fact, huge. Ladies and gentlemen; this electronic marvel is bruteforcing 550+ Million MD5 hashes per second as you read this message.

Nah, I won't misuse the obtained data, its all educational you know. Your government might not be that friendly though.... By the way: did you know that your 8 cipher accesscode isn't safe for these 216 core monsters ? Keep your daughter(boards) inside; the MD5 cracker is on the loose.

WEP, WPA(2), NTLM, cached credentials & all are soooo very much owned. But I'm off nibbling some salted MD5s, just for my own pleasure.
